Since 1st July, 2015., the Social Integration State Agency (Agency) has become a member of the international professional association "European Platform for Rehabilitation" to develop rehabilitation services for people with disabilities.
Agency is the first organization from Latvia which become a member of EPR alongside 30 other European organizations. EPR work in different directions, such as medical rehabilitation, education and employment, to promote the development of services for people with disabilities in Europe, thus improving their quality of life, employment and individual independence on a daily basis.
"Participation in EPR is essential for the exchange of experience and the use of EU good practice in gaining specific and in-depth knowledge of working with people with severe and very severe disabilities. Using international experience, Agency goal is to introduce an EQUASS system for improving the quality of services” explains director of Agency Ilona Jurševska.
Agency is the only institution in Latvia that provides state-paid vocational rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities and predictable disabilities, which includes the determination of professional suitability and the possibility of acquiring one of the educational programmes at College of Agency or Jurmala vocational secondary school.
